
MerCruiser Repower Engines
Two complementary repower lines for classic MerCruiser-powered boats: Quicksilver Plus Series — 100% new factory engines built with marine-grade internals — and Mercury Remanufacturing Plus-Series, fully remanufactured engines hot-tested with fuel and coolant before they leave the factory.
Both lines target pre-2008 California and pre-2010 49-state USA hulls. Because Plus Series engines are completely new (or fully remanufactured) and not a major repair assembly, the old engine being replaced must be returned per EPA 1068.240.
Mercury Remanufacturing Plus-Series engines ship with a one-year factory limited warranty; Mercury Product Protection adds up to two more years of coverage. Give us a call — we've likely got what you're looking for in stock.
Adapting a Plus Series engine to your boat
Plus Series engines are built for repower — many parts that come on engines used for new boat construction (transoms, trim pumps, Y-pipes, rigging, props, boat harnesses, riser kits, closed-cooling kits, steering cylinders, lubes, etc.) are not included and must be purchased separately. Adaptation typically requires:
- Transfer of flywheel housings, couplers and other hardware to adapt to various makes of drives and transoms.
- Changing engine couplers to match specific transmissions or customer preferences.
- Changing engine mounts from front to side, or using solid engine mounts.
- Use of Quicksilver kits to meet customer preferences or installation requirements found in the Repower Reference Manual included with the engine.
Quicksilver Plus Series — 100% New
Drop-in-ready new marine engines based on popular MerCruiser and Mercury Remanufacturing models. 100% new construction with marine-grade internals.
Mercury Remanufacturing Plus-Series
Fully remanufactured engines with marine-grade performance valve trains, pistons, induction systems and (in some cases) marine headers. Each engine is hot-tested with fuel and coolant for quality assurance.
Quicksilver Plus Series — Details

3.0L TKS Alpha — Engine Only
135 HP @ 4800 RPM · 181 cu. in. (3.0L)
3.0L TKS Alpha Sterndrive engine only — non-power steering with front engine mount. Turn Key Start carburetor with mechanical fuel pump.
Built with 100% new Quicksilver internals: cast iron block, large fillet-radii crankshaft, tri-metal bearings, 9.3:1 pistons, revised TKS carburetor calibration, 140 °F thermostat, NGK spark plugs and 1.5:1 rocker arms. Quicksilver cast iron cylinder heads with hardened seats, screw-in studs, Black-X valves and the exclusive Quicksilver combustion chamber allowing 4° BTDC base timing.
Audio warning horn for overheat, low oil pressure and low drive lube. EST analog ignition, single-point water drain (blue hoses), 14-pin harness. Provision for dealer-installed side engine mounts. Pilot bore machined into crankshaft to accept dealer-installed Volvo couplers. Shipped with MerCruiser Alpha coupler.
